The youth group of Red Rocks Baptist Church is committed to the following three resolutions:
- To be conformed into the image of Christ through regular exposure to the Word of God.
- To support my fellow believers as they carry their crosses in pursuit of Christ.
- To proclaim the sight-giving truth of the Gospel to the spiritually blind.
We will accomplish each of these goals by participating in the various ministries within our youth group. The following is a list of the opportunities available under each of these main resolutions to the teens of the Resolved youth ministry:
Resolution #1: I am resolved to be conformed into the image of Christ through regular exposure to the Word of God.
This resolution primarily relates to the teenager's personal walk with Christ. As Christians, teens should be experiencing consistent spiritual growth. While this does not mean that they are perfect, it does mean that they are continually being conformed into the image of Christ. This happens mainly through regular, private Bible study and prayer, as well as from hearing the Word preached publicly. We do not promote a checklist mentality, in which teens read their Bibles in order to check off spiritual duties throughout the week. Rather, we promote a hunger for the Word of God which causes teens to long to commune with the incarnate Word as they read the written Word.
- Bible Study Fellowship Groups
This is the RESOLVED youth group's approach to Sunday School. Every Sunday night, from 6:00 - 7:30, the youth group meets for a time of Bible study. Bobby Endyk, youth director at Red Rocks, usually leads these studies. The evening starts with an opportunity to hang out with friends in the youth room. We offer pool, fooseball, board games, and several TVs for video gaming.
After the hangout time, we meet together for a time of worship. We sing together, and then Bobby teaches a lesson. At the conclusion of the lesson, the teens break up into small groups (led by the adult youth staff), and they apply the evening's lesson to their daily lives.
- Saturday Morning Bible Study
On two Saturdays per month, the youth group is invited to Bobby's home for breakfast and a Bible study. The group usually reads through a book together.
- The Discipleship Journal Bible Reading Plan
The Discipleship Journal Bible Reading Plan (available online at www.navpress.com) offers special features that will aid teens in their journey through the Bible. It assists them in reading their Bibles through in a year, and it breaks up the reading so that they are reading portions from four different sections of the Bible each day. These plans are provided to the students free of charge upon request.
Resolution #2: I am resolved to support my fellow believers as they carry their crosses in pursuit of Christ.
Over and over again, believers are called upon in the New Testament to support one another. We have a desire to promote this atmosphere of bearing one another's burdens by giving the teens in our youth group plenty of opportunities to reach out to each other in brotherly kindness.
- T.A.G. Teams
These are our Teen Accountability Groups. The students are encouraged to choose a partner (of the same gender) to whom they will be held accountable for a six-month timeframe. Time will be given to the students every Sunday night to get alone with their accountability partners and answer the following three questions:
- How are you doing in your walk with Christ?
- What sin got a foothold in your life this past week?
- How can I pray for you during this coming week?
In addition to answering these questions honestly, the teens will be expected to make contact at least once during the week to pray together for five minutes.
- L.A.R.R.Y.
This stands for Leadership and Accountability of Red Rocks Youth. This is our student leadership committee. The students involved with this program help to plan and coordinate the events on the youth calendar. They are also heavily involved in the T.A.G. Teams, and are assigned groups of students to call on a weekly basis. L.A.R.R.Y. meets once a month for three hours for objective analysis of the youth ministry, as well as planning future events.
- Youth Activities
There is definitely a place for fun in the RESOLVED youth group. We strive to have at least one fun activity each month, and sometimes we will even have two or three. Some examples include laser tag, gym nights, rock climbing, paint ball, camping, hiking, and Six Flags. Each year a calendar is provided to the teens with the dates and times of the different activities listed.
Resolution #3: I am resolved to proclaim the sight-giving truth of the Gospel to the spiritually blind.
